WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets earned their third straight win and first road win of the season last night with a 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
After a scoreless first period, Evgeny Svechnikov got the Jets on the board early in the second for his first goal as a Jet. The Ducks answered back quickly with a goal from Sonny Milano (his first as a Duck) and the second period ended 1-1. Anaheim scored quickly in the third with Josh Manson beating Connor Hellebuyck but Andrew Copp replied 3:55 later with a wrist shot that beat John Gibson. The Ducks then grabbed the lead back when Trevor Zegras scored with the Jets looking like they were running out of gas. With Hellebucyk on the bench for the extra attacker, Nikolaj Ehlers got his first goal of the year with 1:20 remaining to tie the game at 3-3. 19 seconds later after an icing call against the Ducks, Copp won the ensuing faceoff directing the puck to Neil Pionk who fed a pass to Ehlers for the game winner. Ehlers finished with 2 goal and an assists and Copp finished with a goal and 1 assist. The Ducks fired 35 shots at Hellebucyk with him able to make 32 saves.
The Jets next see action tomorrow night vs. the LA Kings; faceoff is at 9:30pm (TSN3, 680 CJOB/Power 97).
In a classy move, the Jets announced yesterday afternoon that they have changed the start time of the game on December 5th vs. Toronto to 7pm to not conflict with the CFL Western Final which the Blue Bombers will host with the kickoff at 3pm.
