Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra welcomes Al Simmons

WSO Welcomes Al Simmons

WINNIPEG, MB. - Al Simmons, the beloved children's entertainer is coming to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. This will be his first performance since a devastating fire destroyed his "Magic Workshop." Though he was able to save a few of his treasures, these homemade props are irreplaceable.

Simmons and his Symphonic Shenanigans will make music with tin cans, soda straws, garden hoses and more and pit them against the WSO.

"I guess my worry is that my function on this earth, I believe that I've been put here to make people laugh. I don't want to step on stage and have people feel sorry for me," said Simmons. "I want people to realize that I'm not giving up. I'm going to be back, I'm going to keep going. There's no stopping me." This will be his first concert since the fire.

Al will be closing out the WSO's Great West Life Kid's Concert Sunday April 8 at 2:00pm at the Centennial Concert Hall. Kids tickets start at $15 and are available through the WSO Box Office or wso.ca
