Two Walks Scheduled for Downtown, Friday May 10

WINNIPEG – Drivers can expect delays along Main Street, Portage Avenue, Memorial Boulevard and The Forks area on Friday May 10 between 10:00 AM and 12 noon.

Two large walks are scheduled to take place during that time. Walk for Water is expected to have up to 1000 students between Grades 1 through 12 take part. They will begin at City Hall, head southbound on Main Street, westbound on Portage Avenue, and then Southbound on Memorial ending up at the Manitoba Legislature at approximately 11:30AM.

Winnipeg Transit may experience delays.

400 people are expected to take part in the Grandmothers Walk. Staging begins at the Bell Tower at Selkirk Avenue and Powers Street. The walk will then head eastbound on Selkirk Avenue, southbound on Main Street, eastbound on William Stephenson Way, southbound on Izzy Asper Way and will conclude at the Canadian Human Rights Museum at approximately noon.
