WINNIPEG – The local animals of Assiniboine Park Zoo have jumped to canvas in a series of paintings that local artist Cori Jaye Elston has created for their Pavillion Gallery. Mystical Furry Friends opens May 20 and runs until August 23, 2018.

“For this showcase, I wanted to bring family and community together to the park to experience the fun and at times comical nature of my bold intense colour palette,” said Elston. “Animals are connected to us all and play an integral role of helping the community learn and grow at Assiniboine Park.”

The show is free and the opening will be on Sunday May 20 from 1:00-4:00pm with refreshments served. Elston will also be hosting a special art class at the Pavilion Gallery in front of her paintings June 19, 2018 from 6:00-9:30 p.m. The class will teach students how to paint their favourite animal using a photo of their choice.
