WINNIPEG - A 26 year-old woman was assaulted to the point of unconsciousness while with her young child in an apartment suite on Colony Street.
When she awoke she fled with the child and called police. She told police that there was also another woman still in the suite with the suspect and that he may have weapons.
When police arrived the suspect refused to let them in, telling them that he had a firearm and acknowledging that the other woman was still in the suite with him. This escalated the situation to an armed and barricaded incident and the Tactical Support Team along with additional officers arrived.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. Tactical Support Team members entered the suite and safely removed the suspect and a 28-year-old woman. The woman has been held against her will but was not physically injured.
The victim of assault was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

On January 8, 2019, several items, including electronics, were stolen from a home on Selkirk Ave. The following day, officers located one of the stolen items, a laptop, at an address on Elgin Ave.
