WINNIPEG - The province’s police watchdog is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Winnipeg on the weekend.
The Manitoba Independent Investigation Unit says it was notified by Winnipeg Police after the deadly incident happened early Saturday morning when a driver failed to pull over for a traffic stop.
Cops went to the home of the vehicle’s registered driver where a man advanced at them on foot with a weapon.
The MIIU says officers shot the man several times and he died in hospital.
No other details, including the man’s name, are being released at this point.
