Winnipeg Police Seize Drugs & Gun

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Police noticed a vehicle illegally parked with two people sitting inside that resulted the seizure of a gun and drugs.

Shortly before noon on Friday, December 27th a Guns & Gangs unit patrolling the area of Aberdeen Avenue and Aikins Street spotted an occupied vehicle with what appeared to be fresh damage and a dealer licence plate parked on the wrong side of the road.

Police did a routine traffic stop was that lead to both occupants being placed under arrest. Police said they saw a .22 calibre rifle on the floor of the vehicle and 1.55 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $80) was found.

It was later confirmed that the vehicle was stolen and had been taken from the Spence area on December 18th. The dealer licence place was stolen from the St. Matthews area between December 23 and 24, 2019.

Police charged Gavin Harley Troy Anderson, a 25-year-old man from Winnipeg with:

– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

– Possession of Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

– Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order

A woman, Raven Dawn Severight, 30-years-old from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

– Possession of Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

They were both kept in custody.
