Victims Assaulted and Robbed in Hotel Room

WINNIPEG – Two men were assaulted and robbed in their hotel room when they opened their door to a woman.

The men were asleep in their room in the motor hotel located in the 3300 block of Portage Avenue and at about 9:30 A.M. a woman knocked on their door and they lert her in. Three other suspects, including two males armed with a firearm and two machetes, entered the room as well.

They had their property stolen from them while a firearm was pointed at them and then assaulted, suffering minor injuries. The four suspects then fled the hotel in a stolen vehicle and took gas from a gas station on Keewatin Street.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service found the stolen vehicle parked in the area of Aikins Street and Burrows Avenue. Two female suspects were taken into custody and a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle was seized.

Two male suspects fled on foot and were apprehended a short distance away. Five grams of methamphetamine, .22 calibre ammunition and a knife were seized from them. Officers also recovered a small amount of property that had been stolen from the hotel room.

A search of the stolen vehicle resulted in the recovery of property that had been taken from a vehicle in the Heritage Park area overnight between August 29 and August 30, 2019. It is believed that the stolen vehicle had been taken from the Fort Richmond area on August 30.

22 year-old Blaine Thadeus Harper has been charged with:

– Armed Robbery using a Firearm (x2)

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

– Theft Under $5000

– Pointing a Firearm (x2)

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (x2)

21 year-old Hailey Vanessa Lynn Regent has been charged with:

– Armed Robbery using a Firearm (x2)

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

– Theft Under $5000

23 year-old Kayla Marie Ednie has been charged with:

– Armed Robbery using a Firearm (x2)

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

– Theft Under $5000

They were detained in custody.
