WINNIPEG - Two men were arrested and are now facing several charges after entering a business with a gun on Young Street in Winnipeg.

Police said on Wednesday around 10:00 a.m.,a caller told police two masked suspects, one armed with a gun entered a building in the 500 block of Young Street. At least two people remained in the business. A nearby cruiser went to the scene and confirmed that the doors to the business were locked and people remained inside.

Several units, including members of the Tactical Support Team, responded to the scene. After a short time, one male suspect exited the building at the request of police and was taken into custody. A second male suspect was found inside and also taken into custody. Upon searching the building, officers recovered the disguises and an air-soft gun.

Police learned two men wearing disguises, one armed with a handgun, entered the business and locked the doors behind them. An employee tried to run from the business but was stopped by one of the suspects who threatened him with a gun. A second employee struggled with a second suspect at which time a customer, the original caller, was able to run from the business. The suspects demanded money and began to search the building before police arrived.

Christopher Roy Whiteside, a 33-year-old man from Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possess Weapon
