WINNIPEG - Two people are recovering in hospital and a Winnipeg man is facing charges after Winnipeg police say the pair were stabbed while giving the suspect a ride.
The Winnipeg Police Service says they responded to two early-morning calls about stabbings this weekend. Officers found both victims with serious injuries, and they were taken to hospital - a woman in critical condition, and a man in unstable condition.
Police say they were stabbed inside a vehicle after the woman had used social media to offer services giving people rides. Investigators say the male victim had been accompanying her as she transported the 21-year-old suspect and two other men early that morning.
The WPS says the three passengers were picked up from a home on Selkirk Ave between Main and Charles Streets, and at some point an argument occurred, and escalated until the two victims were stabbed multiple times. The man left the vehicle and the passengers fled, and the woman kept driving to find help. Police say they found a knife at the Selkirk Ave home, which they believe was used in the stabbing.
Both victims have been upgraded to stable condition, and the suspect is detained in custody facing multiple assault charges.
