Grandparent Scam Suspects Arrested

Grandparent Scam Arrests

WINNIPEG - Police have arrested two suspects in Winnipeg for allegedly using the Grandparent Scam to steal tens of thousands of dollars.

The Ontario pair is accused of scamming nine local seniors out of $100,000.

Investigators say the two women, 18 and 25 years old, would call elderly people and pretend to be a family member in trouble and needing quick money.

No word whether any cash was recovered when officers searched a home on Sommerville Avenue in Fort Garry.
