City of Winnipeg Employee Charged with Theft Over $5,000

WINNIPEG – A City of Winnipeg employee faces charges of Theft Over $5,000 after a week-long investigation conducted by the Major Crimes Unit.

Police seized $8,500 of property belonging to the City of Winnipeg while executing a search warrant at a home in a rural residence in the town of St. Adolphe. The scrap metal appeared to have been taken over a period of time from various city locations.

A 32-year-old male who is an employee of the City of Winnipeg in the Water and Waste department will be charged with one count of Theft Over $5,000. As directed by the Criminal Code of Canada the suspect was released on a Promise to Appear with formal charging to follow.
