Air1 and K-9 Team Up to Catch  Suspects

WINNIPEG - It took the combined efforts of Air1 and the K-9 Unit to catch up with two armed suspects on the run.

Officers were patrolling near Sherbrook and Logan when they tried to pull over a suspicious vehicle. It quickly took off and Air1 stepped into track the vehicle as it attempted to get away.

As they were following the car, one of the occupants threw what turned out to be a loaded saw-off shot gun out of the vehicle.

Air1 continued to track the vehicle through the Oak Point Highway, Omands Creek, Sargent Park, Wolseley, and West Broadway areas until approximately 1:45 a.m. at which time ground crews took over. A male passenger exited the vehicle and was apprehended in the 100 block of Young Street.

The driver continued on and abandoned the vehicle a short time later on Roslyn Crescent and fled. A K-9 unit tracked the driver and she was arrested on Balmoral Street.

The female was arrested in possession of a cheques stolen in March, October, and November 2019 from various locations. She was also in possession of identification stolen from a residence in December 2019.

The female is responsible for withdrawing $818.00 by cheque from the account of a male whose vehicle was broken into in November 2019.

Officers learned the male and female were also responsible for the theft of an Amazon package from the front of a residence on February 1, 2019.

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

Use of Forged Documents

27 year-old Jason Frederick Moar of Little Grand Rapids First Nation, has been charged with:

Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

Possession of a Firearm, Restricted/prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X3

Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

Possession of a Weapon

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

They were both detained in custody.
