Manitoba Post StaffNews

WINNIPEG – There’s been another officer-involved shooting in the city, the third in less than two weeks. And like the other two, this one was fatal.

A 22 year old man is dead. It happened about four o’clock this morning in the 200 block of Adsum Drive. A resident taking out his garbage was confronted by two armed males demanding money, he was able to flee. A short time later, another call was made to 911 about windows being broken in an apartment building in the same area. Cops began searching and located two suspects near Adsum and Pipline Drive. That’s where the shooting occurred at around 4:20.

Officers administered first aid but the injured suspect died later in hospital. The second suspect, a 16 year old male, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries. He’s now facing robbery and firearms charges.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is looking into the matter.
