23-Year-Old Slams Head-On Into Unmarked Police Car

WINNIPEG – 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged after driving head-on into an unmarked police car.

Police said Friday night spotted a vehicle in the area Main St. and College Ave. believed to have been involved in an earlier hit and run. AIR1 was immediately assigned and tracked the route of the suspect vehicle while officers followed at a safe distance.

Police said after about 4KM’s, in the area of Ellice Avenue and Young Street, where the suspect drove directly head-on into a marked police car and then he took off on foot. The man was arrested a short distance away.

Police located a baseball bat and a samurai sword within the vehicle.

Joey Henning Boorsma, 23-years-of-age from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Assault Peace Officer With a Weapon x 4
  • Possession of a Weapon x 2
