Bombers In BC Tonight

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers put their unbeaten record on the line Saturday when they travel into Vancouver to face the 3-0 BC Lions in a big matchup at BC Place Stadium.

The majority of attention so far this season has been on Victoria-born Nathan Rourke who has been outstanding for the Lions. The former Ohio University star has completed 88-of-105 passes for 1,077 yards and nine touchdown passes while rushing for 180 yards on 15 carries and three TDs thus far. However, he and the Lions haven’t faced a team with any kind of talent; their wins have been against the Elks, Argos, and RedBlacks. Saturday will be a different story against the Blue Bomber and their top-rated defense.

Winnipeg’s D so far in 2022 has allowed a CFL-low 15.8 offensive points per game despite being ranked seventh in offensive yards allowed (370.3 per game) and last against the pass (315.5 yards). My only concern this week is that the Bombers are working on a short week; they played Monday night in Toronto and have only had one real practice preparing for the Lions. However, the defending champs know how to win and had BC’s number last season, beating the Lions 30-9 in Vancouver and 45-0 at home. The oddsmakers have the Lions as 3.5 point favorites, but I expect the Blue Bombers to once again prevail. Kickoff is 6pm (680 CJOB, TSN3).
