WINNIPEG - After a non-stop 10 week grind that saw the defending Grey Cup champs go 9-1, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers take to the turf at IG Field tonight to take on the 6-3 Calgary Stampeders.
Winnipeg, after already beating the Stampeders two times this season, will be without receivers Greg Ellingson (hip) and Janarion Grant (groin). The Stampeders will start Jake Maier at quarterback, replacing Bo Levi Mitchell who was pulled at halftime last week against the Toronto Argonauts. Maier who turned things around and got the win in Toronto was also effective against the Bombers last season, completing 30-of-39 passes for 307 yards.
Expect the rested Bombers ferocious defense to knock Maier off his game early as the team cruises to its first three game sweep of the Stamps since 1987. Kickoff is at 7:30pm (680 CJOB, TSN3).
