Bombers Dump Ticats

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers continued their dominance over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in an easy 26-12 win last night at IG Field. The Bombers dubbed the night a “white out” as they wore their white road jerseys, which is what they were wearing for their back-to-back Grey Cup victories over Hamilton in 2019 and 2021. Winnipeg is a perfect 3-0 so far this season while Hamilton falls to 0-3.

The game was delayed over a half hour due to some ominous weather conditions, but there were only sporadic light showers after kick off.

The Bombers dominated on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Zach Collaros completed 21 of 32 pass attempts for 302 yards with one interception. Dane Evans of the Ticats was 25-for-42 passing for 237 yards with two interceptions; one of them into the hands of Willie Jefferson who took it 30 yards to score with 8:40 remaining in the game. Marc Liegghio had a perfect outing, kicking field goals from 45, 30 and 41 yards. He also hit two converts and added three punt singles. The defense didn’t allow a touchdown and has only allowed one all season.

The Bombers have a bit of a rest as their next game is on July 4th at BMO Field facing Andrew Harris and the Toronto Argonauts.
