Winnipeg's Bombers Dump Riders

Bombers Dump Riders

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers excised the demons of Labour Days past, with a big 23-8 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, winning the Labour Day Classic for the first time since 2016, and only for the second time in the last 16 years.

Zack Collaros finished 19 of 27 with one touchdown toss to the returning Nic Demsky, and only one interception. Andrew Harris rushed for 95 yards, and pulled in a couple of catches. The Bomber defense completely shut down the ‘Riders, a team that prior to yesterday was averaging almost 29 points a game.

It was a total team effort, and despite questionable officiating throughout the game, proved why the Bombers are the number one team in the West.

The two teams face each other Saturday at IG Field in the annual Banjo Bowl. Game time is 3pm.
