WINNIPEG, MB - Winnipeg is known for having some of the most passionate football fans in the CFL, so it made perfect sense for the league to hold their second-annual Mark's CFL Week in our city.
The event will take place March 22 to 25 at the RBC Convention Centre. Christina Litz, Chief Marketing, Digital and Strategy Officer of the Canadian Football League says the event is a great time for both fans and players of the CFL.
"We created Mark's CFL Week to share our best with the best fans in the world," says Litz. "This is where we showcase our stars, audition our prospects, honour our legends and, most of all, deliver all sorts of fun for fans. There is no offseason for our fans' passion and Mark's CFL Week celebrates that."
During the event fans will have a chance to meet their favorite CFL stars including Bombers Matt Nichols and Andrew Harris, in addition to many more. Other notables include Mike Reilly, Zach Collaros, Jonathon Jennings, Solomon Elimimian, Alex Singleton, Marken Michel, C.J. Gable, Willie Jefferson, Jeremiah Masoli, Simoni Lawrence, Ricky Ray, S.J. Green, Trevor Harris, Greg Ellingson, Josh Freeman and Chris Williams.
The Grey Cup will also be in attendance throughout the Week, with a chance for fans to get a photo op with the storied trophy. This year's inductees to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame will be announced at a special VIP Reception hosted by CFL on TSN's Rod Smith on March 21 at the Pinnacle Club in Investors Group Field. Bomber legends Doug Brown, Paul Bennett, Matt Dunigan, Milt Stegall and Chris Walby will all be there to meet and greet with fans during the announcement.
Wade Miller, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Winnipeg Football Club says holding an event like this before the season begins will be really exciting for Bomber fans.
"Having Mark's CFL Week here in March, a few months before we start training camp, is a bit like Christmas in July for Bomber fans. We can't wait to show the entire country that Winnipeg loves to celebrate and Winnipeg loves Canadian football all year round."
Litz echoed Miller's words. "We're excited for fans to get up close and personal with Mark's CFL Week after last year's success in Saskatchewan, and we know that the people of Winnipeg are going to be incredible hosts for this fantastic event," adds Litz.
"CFL Week brings together our top players, prospects and legends, and this is our way of celebrating today's CFL, our history and even our future with our favourite people - our fans."
