Bombers Win Banjo Bowl

Bombers Win Banjo Bowl

WINNIPEG - I said to expect a bigger Winnipeg Blue Bomber victory than in the 2019 Banjo Bowl, and I was close. At a sold out IG Field, the Bombers made it two in a row over the Saskatchewan Roughriders with a 33-9 win. With back-to-back wins over the Riders, Winnipeg improved to 5-1 on the season, and remained in sole possession of first place in the West Division.

Zach Collaros completed 18-of-22 passes for 278 yards, and two touchdowns while back up QB Sean McGuire scored three touchdowns. Nic Demski was sensational, hauling in all 5 of his passes for a career high 134 yards while Andrew Harris had 18 carries for 80 yards. Darvin Adams, and Kenny Lawler each caught one Collaros pass for a touchdown.

Saskatchewan lost Cody Fajardo in the third quarter after apparently suffering a concussion when he was sacked by a swarming Willie Jefferson, and Jake Thomas early in the third quarter. Adam Bighill recorded a sack, and interception as well. The entire defense once again had a strong effort keeping the Riders out of the end zone for the second straight game.

The Bombers next see action on Friday when they travel to Edmonton to take on the Elks.
