WINNIPEG - In a game that meant nothing to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Dru Brown’s two “pick six” interceptions basically gave the B.C. Lions a 40-32 win over the defending Grey Cup champions.
Brown went 28 of 39 for 325 yards and did toss 3 touchdown passes; 2 to Rasheed Bailey and the other to Dalton Schoen (his 15th of the season. Janarion Grant added the Bombers other touchdown on a 94 yard punt return which earned him the record for most in Blue Bombers history; his second of the season and 7th of his career. Marc Liegghio struggled going 1-4 in field goals but connected on all his converts.
Winnipeg didn’t dress starters Zach Collaros, Jermarcus Hardrick, Patrick Neufeld and Stanley Bryant and rested many more in the second half.
With the win, the Lions move to 11-5 and move into second place in the West Division.
The 14-3 Bombers will be on a bye this week before hosting the Lions on Friday, Oct. 28th to finish the regular season.
