Bombers & Lions Tonight

WINNIPEG - All week long stories are popping up in my feed – “Much improved BC Lions could present problems for the Blue Bombers” or “Bombers will be tested with the pesky Lions”.

Really? The Lions do have a winning record at the midpoint of the 2021 season (4-3) but who have they beat? All teams with losing records; they have beat Ottawa twice, beat Montreal, and have beat Calgary. They have been beat by the lowly Edmonton Elks, and their 2 other losses have been to a 5-2 Saskatchewan Roughriders, so please excuse me if I’m not understanding this Lions love all of a sudden.

The 6-1 Winnipeg Blue Bombers take on those darling Lions tonight (9pm TSN, 680 CJOB) and will have kick returner Janarion Grant, along with linebacker Kyrie Wilson and defensive tackle Steven Richardson back in their lineup. Richardson should make the most difference; the defense has struggled a little against the run and his return should clog up the middle.

I don’t see anyway this game being any different than the Bombers last road game in Edmonton. The Bombers will dominate on both sides of the ball and should easily beat the Lions.
