WINNIPEG - The major story line going into tonight's game at IG Field is this; if the Winnipeg Blue Bombers beat the Edmonton Elks and the B.C. Lions lose to the Toronto Argonauts this afternoon, Winnipeg will clinch first place in the West Division for the second season in a row.
The 13-2 Bomber offense has been explosive this season with reigning Most Outstanding Player Zach Collaros spreading the ball around despite injuries at wideout. Brady Oliveira has been explosive running the ball effectively behind a rock solid O-line. Dalton Schoen has become the franchise leader in receiving touchdowns by a rookie with his 11th touchdown reception last week and will look to continue building on what has been a strong first year. Schoen also had his best statistical game of the season in Winnipeg’s Week 7 win over the Elks, Schoen caught four passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. Although Winnipeg’s defense isn’t as statistically dominant as it was in the last two seasons it’s still holding their opponents to a league-best 22.1 points per game.
Edmonton doesn’t stand a chance. Although with Saskatchewan losing last night in Hamilton, the Elks technically still could make the playoffs, but there’s not enough talent to beat the dominating Bombers. Kickoff is 6pm (680 CJOB, TSN3).
