WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will begin a quest to “three-peat” as Grey Cup champions when they kick off the 2022 season at home against an opponent they didn’t see in 2020, the Ottawa Redblacks, on Friday June 10th at 7:30 p.m. The team will then travel to the nation’s capital to play their next game in Ottawa.
The 2022 schedule will return to the full format of 18 games after playing an abridged 14-game season this past year. There will be three bye weeks for each team, with the regular season ending just before Halloween. The 109th Grey Cup is scheduled for Regina on Sunday, November 22.
The Bombers home schedule features five Friday night games, two Thursday night games and two Saturday games, including the Banjo Bowl on Sept. 10. Winnipeg will face the B.C. Lions, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Calgary Stampeders three times. They will meet the Edmonton Elks, Ticats, Ottawa and the Alouettes twice each and Toronto only once. There also will be preseason games this year, unlike in 2021, with the Bombers in Regina on May long weekend, Monday, May 23rd, and then home to Edmonton on Friday, May 27th.
