Weekend Crashes Kill 3

WINNIPEG - RCMP say multiple collisions on Manitoba highways claimed the lives of three people within 24 hours this past weekend. Just after 9 Saturday night, Oakbank RCMP responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 12, just north of Garven Road. Police say an SUV going south lost control and went into headon traffic, striking a pickup truck that was going north. The 34-year-old driver of the SUV, from Neebing, Ontario, was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead there. The 29-year-old driver of the truck, from Lockport, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The investigation found there may have been a third vehicle involved that fled the scene. Anyone with information about that crash is asked to contact Oakbank RCMP at 204-444-3847.

Just before 11 that night, Steinbach RCMP responded to a rollover at the Seine River bridge along Hwy 210 in the RM of Tache. An investigation found a car had been travelling north on Hwy 210 and drifted onto the shoulder, struck a concrete bridge railing, and flipped onto its side. The 63-year-old driver, a man from St. Anne, and a 45-year-old male passenger from Scanterbury, Manitoba, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Both incidents continue to be investigated with the help of RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstruction units.
