Two Arrested for Multiple Mailbox Thefts

WINNIPEG - Police arrested two people in connection with a number of mailbox thefts after a search warrant was executed at a home in the first 100 block of Fiorentino Street with the help of the Oakbank RCMP.

Oakbank RCMP was looking for two suspects involved in an investigation into mailbox thefts in the RM of Springfield, RM of St. Clements, East St. Paul, and Selkirk areas.

Inside the home, police found a loaded sawed-off shotgun wrapped in Hells Angels support clothing. A woman was also found hiding in the hollowed-out back of a loveseat sofa. A man was also later taken into custody.

Brady Elizabeth Kara Laverdure, a 29-year-old female of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

Laverdure also had three outstanding warrants for:

  • Obstruction of Justice
  • Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x4)
  • Fail to Appear – Promise to Appear

Ryan Donald Fortescue, a 44-year-old man from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice
