WINNIPEG - Portage RCMP say they’re still looking for a suspect vehicle as a 40-year-old man recovers from serious injuries after a hit-and-run on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Mounties explain the cyclist from Ontario, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, was riding west about two km west of Austin, MB when he was hit by a red vehicle, likely a pickup truck. Police say the cyclist was thrown into the ditch along the highway — but the driver of the vehicle, which police believe has a broken headlight on the passenger side, didn't pull over. The cyclist was later taken to a hospital in Winnipeg.
Anyone with information that could help investigators locate the vehicle is asked to call Portage RCMP at 204-857-4445, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
