WINNIPEG - A family doctor who focuses on addictions medicine says it's time for the province to take action as fatal opioid overdoses hit record levels.
Dr. Anne Durcan says Manitoba Health neither promotes nor covers the upfront costs of opioid replacement therapy using Suboxone and methadone.
She says the two medications have saved many lives.
Manitoba reported a record 407 overdose death in 2021 and is on track to exceed that number this year.
