Surgery Backlog Tops 110K

WINNIPEG - The backlog of surgeries and diagnostic tests in Manitoba caused by the pandemic has topped 110,000 and physicians say immediate action is needed.

Doctors Manitoba believes the province should commit now to addressing the problem by a fixed date.

Dr. Kristjan Thompson, the organization's president, says a task force including frontline healthcare workers needs to be created to lead the effort.

He says the backlog needs to be dealt with as quickly as possible.
