Stefanson Downplays Churchill Talks

Downplaying Churchill Talks

WINNIPEG - Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson is downplaying a request by her Alberta counterpart to meet in Churchill to talk about shipping oil and farm products through the Hudson Bay port.

Stefanson says the invitation is not a top priority, saying her government is dealing with more pressing matters, such as affordability, improving the health care and addressing homelessness.

Danielle Smith also asked Saskatchewan’s Scott Moe to attend, saying in a letter to the premiers that investors are looking for responsibly produced energy and the economic case for expanding the Port of Churchill is improving.

Stefanson says she's open to future discussions.
