Some Evacuees Return Home

WINNIPEG - Many residents of a First Nation in northern Manitoba have been allowed to return to their homes after a nearby wildfire prompted an evacuation.

Thousands of people from Pimicikamak Cree Nation were forced to leave the community on Wednesday evening.

Residents with respiratory problems have been told it is not safe to go back yet.

The Manitoba government says unfavourable wind conditions increased the size of the fire to almost 19 square kilometres but rain and a shift in the wind are expected over the next couple of days.
