WINNIPEG - The unprecedented number of kids needing emergency care due to respiratory infections is stretching the health system in Manitoba and officials are warning the surge likely hasn't reached its peak.
Dr. Elisabete Doyle, section head of pediatric emergency medicine at Children's Hospital in Winnipeg, says most of the patients have the flu, RSV or a combination of viruses.
She says many of those admitted are younger than three years old.
Doyle says the hospital is reporting three times its usual number of flu cases in kids.
