RCMP Investigate Theft of Multiple Firearms in Oakbank and Souris

OAKBANK/SOURIS – Two separate reports, in two different towns, involving the thefts of 53 guns have RCMP asking for the public’s help regarding these incidents.

Oakbank RCMP responded to an incident on January 14 at 3:00 am. where 12 handguns were taken from a locked gun safe in a garage at a home in the RM of Springfield. Police could not locate the suspects.

At about 10:20 am on the same day, Souris RCMP received a report of 41 long guns stolen from a home although it wasn’t clear when the guns had been taken in the last month.

It is not believed that the thefts are related at this time.

The thefts are being actively investigated by Oakbank and Souris RCMP with assistance from the Forensic Identification Unit.
