UPDATED JULY 4, 2018 AT 5:23PM – The 18-year-old Winnipeg man was located deceased by the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team at approximately 12:10 pm on July 4, 2018.

An autopsy will be conducted. The investigation continues.

MANITOBA - Lac du Bonnet RCMP are searching for a teenager who was swimming near the Old Pinawa Dam.

Monday, just after 6:00 pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a report of a possible drowning in the Lee River at the Old Pinawa Dam site. Police say an 18-year-old man from Winnipeg had been swimming down the rapids on the high side of the dam with friends when they lost sight of him, and he had not resurfaced.

The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team is on the scene and will be diving as soon as conditions allow. The Lac du Bonnet Fire Department has been on scene assisting with the search. Manitoba Sustainable Development is also assisting, and access to the Old Pinawa Dam Heritage Park is restricted as the investigation continues.
