Pukatawagan Outbreak

WINNIPEG - The military is trying to help a remote First Nation in northwestern Manitoba with an outbreak of COVID-19.

The chief of Pukatawagan, also known as Mathias Colomb Cree Nation, blames social gatherings for the spike in cases.

Chief Lorna Bighetty says some people let their guard down after a few dozen people got vaccinated.

The community recorded 45 new cases yesterday, taking the total number of active cases since Monday to 281.

41 soldiers were sent in last week.
