Possible Photo Radar Lawsuit In Manitoba

Possible Photo Radar Lawsuit

WINNIPEG - A man is looking for certification of a class action lawsuit that claims Manitobans who got photo radar tickets over a four year period were overcharged by about $36 million.

William Acheson's statement of claim filed against the province says it did not follow its own rules while handing out tickets between November of 2017 and November in 2021.

It alleges the government charged people for every kilometre per hour over the limit, instead of 10 kilometres above the posted speed as stated in regulations passed in 2017.

The province has not filed a statement of defence and there is no court date set for a hearing.
