Police in Winkler, Morden & RCMP Charge 7 Drug Dealers with "Project Denver"

Project Denver nets 7 Dealers

MORDEN - Police in Morden, Winkler and the RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit joined forces to target drug trafficking and other criminal activity in their communities.

The investigation was called "Project Denver". At the conclusion of the project, ten suspects were arrested, eight search warrants were executed, and police seized over eleven ounces of cocaine, a quantity of marihuana and LSD, and over $4,600 cash.

The last of the suspects charged during Project Denver were convicted in court and sentenced in May. In addition to various firearms prohibitions and other court orders, these people received the following sentences:

- Reuben Reimer, age 32 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of one count of trafficking cocaine and sentenced to five years imprisonment.

- Brian Hodgson, age 21 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of one count of trafficking cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He was sentenced to a total of 27 months imprisonment.

- David Hills, age 22 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and one count of trafficking cocaine. Hills was sentenced to a total of 3 ½ years imprisonment.

- Brett Krashel, age 22 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment.

- Ernest Buhler, age 26 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of three counts of trafficking cocaine and was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment.

- Chadwin Klyne, age 32 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of proceeds of crime. Klyne was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment.

- Peter Penner, age 20 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of proceeds of crime. Penner was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment.
