Peguis In Manitoba Wants Flood Protection

Peguis Wants Flood Protection

WINNIPEG - With more than 1,400 of his residents in hotels in Winnipeg and elsewhere, the leader of Peguis First Nation is calling for permanent flood protection.

Chief Glen Hudson says it's time for governments to build dikes, dams or a diversion channel.

He believes that would be better than evacuating homes and repairing damage from frequent flooding.

Ottawa says it's looking to improve flood defences along the Fisher River.
