Omicron Detected In Manitoba

WINNIPEG - Manitoba is reporting its first case of the Omicron variant of concern.

It was detected in someone who recently visited one of the countries on Ottawa's travel ban list.

The Individual is experiencing mild COVID-19 symptoms.

Experts are still learning about Omicron and its transmissibility, severity and how effective the vaccines are against it.

There's just the one case of the variant here so far but in Ontario where Omicron was first discovered in Canada, the numbers are growing, including a new large cluster of at least 40 cases in the southwestern part of that province.
