Omicron Could Get Bad In Manitoba

Omicron Could Get Bad

WINNIPEG - Manitoba's top doctor is hoping people will stick to small gatherings of fully vaccinated people over the holidays.

Dr. Brent Roussin, the province's chief public health officer, has released preliminary modelling that shows the province could see 1,000 new cases of COVID-19 daily by early next month as the Omicron variant spreads. That would quadruple yesterday's 206 cases.

Roussin is not bringing in new restrictions at this point but he is once again urging people to get vaccinated and boosted before there's widespread community transmission of Omicron.
