Likely New Statutory Holiday In Manitoba

Likely New Stat Holiday

WINNIPEG - A final decision has not been made yet but it sounds like Manitoba will get a new statutory holiday this fall.

Premier Heather Stefanson first discussed the idea of a stat for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation last winter.

She says the holiday could be in place by this year's event on September 30th.

The day, also known as Orange Shirt Day, is already a stat holiday for federal government workers.

The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce says it's on board and supports the proposed provincial stat.
