New Omicron Vaccine Coming To Manitoba

New Omicron Vaccine Coming

WINNIPEG - Health officials say Manitobans will start getting the newly-approved COVID-19 vaccine that protects against Omicron by mid-September.

According to deputy chief provincial public health officer Dr. Jazz Atwal, over 100,000 doses of the bivalent vaccine are expected to be delivered to the province in the next two weeks.

Shots will first be offered to those most at risk, including people 65 years and older, residents of care homes, health care workers and Indigenous people.

However, Atwal says eligibility will be expanded to all adults in the next six to eight weeks because the vaccine provides more protection.
