More High-Dose Flu Shots

WINNIPEG - Manitoba is expanding the eligibility for high-dose flu shots this fall to include all residents 65 years of age and older.

The province's top doctor, Brent Roussin, says there's good evidence that high doses of the flu vaccine gives better protection for older adults than the standard shot.

He says the change will mean less people getting sick, not as many hospitalizations and fewer deaths.

In the past, the high-dose flu vaccine was limited to seniors with specific eligibility requirements.
