Union Wants New Stat

WINNIPEG - The union representing grocery store employees in Manitoba wants the province to declare September 30th a statutory holiday.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation has already been declared a school holiday but not a provincial stat.

Ottawa announced the holiday a few months ago.

The United Food and Commercial Workers' union represents 19,000 workers across Manitoba.
