Manitoba Town Wants COVID-19 Exemption

Town Wants COVID Exemption

WINNIPEG - A mayor in southern Manitoba is calling new COVID-19 restrictions unfair.

Niverville's Myron Dyck says vaccine uptake in his community is 81.8 per cent which is slightly above the provincial average.

He thinks there should be an exemption for his town.

In the rest of the Southern Health Region, vaccination rates are low.

Retail businesses across the south will be limited to half capacity starting on Tuesday.

Th region is home to 15 per cent of Manitoba's population but its residents make up half of all active COVID cases in hospital and two-thirds of cases in intensive care units.
