WINNIPEG - The Manitoba government has announced $3.4 million to hire 19 new Crown attorneys, six legal support staff and six new Crown counsel.
Justice minister Kelvin Goertzen says the additions will enhance the province's ability to prosecute serious criminal offences.
It is being called the largest increase in Crown attorneys in the past 15 years.
NDP Justice Critic Matt Wiebe says premier Heather Stefanson was justice minister seven years ago when she cut prosecutor positions and left others vacant.
