Manitoba Teen Faces Murder Charge

Teen Faces Murder Charge

WINNIPEG - RCMP say a Manitoba teenager is now facing murder charges following the death of a younger boy a few days ago.

Mounties say a 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on Sunday after a 16-year-old boy was found unresponsive with serious injuries at a home in Grand Rapids, Manitoba Thursday evening. The victim was pronounced dead at a local nursing station later that day.

RCMP Major Crime Services investigators were dispatched to the community, and were assisted by their Emergency Response Team, Forensic Identification Section, and a K9 Unit.

The suspect is still in custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in The Pas today.

With a population of less than 300 people, the Town of Grand Rapids is more than four hours from Winnipeg, on the northwestern shore of Lake Winnipeg.
