WINNIPEG - The Manitoba Teachers' Society is calling on the province to make it mandatory for all public school employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
MTS president James Bedford says with almost half of students still not eligible for the shot, and the dangerous Delta variant circulating, it's time for action.
Workers who can't get vaccinated would undergo regular testing.
Some school divisions are also requiring masks for back to school.
Bedford believes the best place for learning is schools but classrooms need to be safe for everyone in them.
I think forcing people to take a shot of whatever that is anything but a vaccine is a direct violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
