Help For Single Parents

WINNIPEG - The province is promising $1.3 million to extend a program for single parents for two years.

The program which provides child care, career counselling and other services is one of several receiving funding from the Conservative government as it tries to transform the welfare system.

Families minister Rachelle Squires says the goal is to improve independence for single parents.

She also announced $500,000 for programs that improve skill development and mental health supports in rural and northern areas.
